Where is the best place for our reception???

Many couples and their families have a pretty good idea of the size and type of reception site that they want for their wedding reception.  The choices range for casual to formal, elegant to country-western, small to large, etc.

The best starting place for most couples is to figure out the approximate number of guests and select a few halls than can accommodate that number.  Be realistic in your estimate... there is always some forgotten people to invite so plan for some extra space.

Next discuss with your future spouse and your families to determine the budget that you need to stay within.  This will help you to choose the level of elegance and service that will be at the reception.  Setting a budget and sticking to it is very important in successful wedding planning.

Below are some helpful ideas for choosing and inspecting your potential wedding reception site:

bullet

What is the occupancy limit of the hall

bullet

Is there enough room for everyone

bullet

Is there an area for receiving lines, gift tables, cake tables, head table, family tables, places for the Musicians/DJ and dance floor?

bullet

Where will the bar be in the hall?  This can be important, because the bar is where people tend to congregate

bullet

Does the hall provide servers and bartenders (at what cost)

bullet

Do they provide the "set ups" for the bar

bullet

Do they provide tablecloths and napkins, china, flatware or other items needed for the dinner

bullet

Do they do the catering or do they work with a specific caterer, or can you choose your own

bullet

When can decorating be done and what type is allowed

bullet

Can you bring in your own alcohol

bullet

Can they serve dinner (if desired)

bullet

What time will you have the hall until

bullet

Is there a coat-room for winter weddings
